Wini Labrecque is a renowned textile artist with a strong passion for natural fibers! She has been spinning, weaving, knitting and felting with natural fibers since the 1980’s, and has maintained her own herd of fiber production alpacas for the past seven years. Her award-winning handspun skeins and woven/knit goods are sold at art festivals and specialty shops alike.
Today, Wini is a well-known presenter at alpaca shows and events on topics relating to fleece and fiber. She is training as an Apprentice Fleece Judge for the alpaca industry and is working with the NC College of Textiles in Research & Development on developing “wash and wear” alpaca fabrics. Wini has judged alpaca skein show competitions, spin-offs, fiber arts and fleece shows nation-wide and is currently Fiber Chairperson for PAOBA.
